Iridescent glass, also known as dichroic glass or iridescent-coated glass, is a special type of decorative optical glass. Its most distinctive feature is its ability to reflect different colors depending on the viewing angle. Depending on the angle of direct sunlight and the observer’s position, it displays five colors—orange, green, blue, red, and yellow—creating a dreamlike play of light and shadow.
Five Changing Colors. Iridescent glass is produced using two manufacturing processes:
The first is the standard laminated process: the finished product is created by sandwiching an iridescent film or dichroic film between two sheets of glass using a lamination process, resulting in iridescent glass;

Glass lamination involves sandwiching a sturdy PVB film between two or more sheets of glass. The film is bonded between the two glass sheets. They are compressed using a hot press to expel as much air as possible from the interior, then placed in a high-pressure steam chamber. High temperature and pressure are applied to dissolve any residual air into the film.

Iridescent film is a stretchable decorative material, also known as rainbow film, multicolored film, iridescent film, or laser rainbow film, among others. It is a plastic composite film created by melt-extruding two or more resins with different refractive indices and sequentially layering them in alternating intervals to form over 100 layers, with each layer only a few hundred nanometers thick. The material is somewhat brittle. As a multilayer film, it can be used on its own or applied after being laminated with various other materials.
Second is the surface crystal coating process: this involves applying a colorful crystal coating to the surface of a single glass pane, resulting in colorful glass with an even more outstanding iridescent color-changing effect.
Colorful glass is able to display different color changes from various angles primarily due to its surface crystal layer, which operates on optical principles (an optical phenomenon formed by an equilateral triangle with three sides of equal length)—the same principle behind the iridescent colors produced by a prism.

Properties of iridescent glass: Transparent, highly aesthetic, eco-friendly, fade-resistant, stain-resistant, acid and alkali resistant, heat resistant, and antibacterial. The intermediate layer reduces solar radiation and prevents energy loss. It also dampens sound wave vibrations, providing sound insulation.
