Although glass is not a frame material, it is the core carrier of the door and window functions. Its selection needs to be combined with light transmission, heat preservation, safety and other requirements:

Ordinary float glass: good light transmission, but fragile, easy to produce sharp fragments after breaking, low safety, mostly used in temporary buildings or scenes with low safety requirements.

Tempered glass: after high temperature treatment, the strength is 3-5 times that of ordinary glass, and after breaking, it will be blunt-angled particles, reducing the risk of injury. It is the mainstream choice of door and window glass, especially suitable for high-rise residential buildings, balcony guardrails, etc.

Insulating glass: composed of two or more pieces of glass with an air layer (or inert gas) in the middle. The air layer can block heat conduction, and the heat insulation and sound insulation effects are significant. It is suitable for cold areas in the north or street buildings (reducing noise).

Low-E glass (low-radiation glass): the surface is coated with a special metal film that can reflect infrared rays (prevent heat transfer) while allowing visible light to pass through. It can reduce outdoor heat entry in summer and retain indoor temperature in winter. It is a common glass for energy-saving doors and windows.
Laminated glass: PVB film is sandwiched between two pieces of glass. After breaking, the fragments are stuck to the film and will not fall off. It is extremely safe and has better sound insulation than ordinary glass. It is suitable for large-area glass applications such as floor-to-ceiling windows and glass curtain walls.
