Cadmium telluride (CdTe) photovoltaic glass is made by depositing an advanced set of photovoltaic functional materials between two pieces of ordinary glass, transforming the glass from an insulator into a conductor and enabling it to generate electricity. CdTe photovoltaic glass can generate electricity normally even in low-light environments. The product features high power generation, high efficiency, good performance under complex environmental conditions, low energy consumption, and no pollution. It is recyclable at the end of its life cycle. Each piece of photovoltaic glass generates 150-350 kWh of electricity annually, depending on the region, and is figuratively described as an oil field hanging on the wall.
Compared to ordinary glass, photovoltaic glass meets building requirements while also generating electricity, making it suitable for building-integrated photovoltaics (BIPV). It enables a transformation from building energy consumption to energy conservation and power generation, while also possessing advantages such as fire resistance, anti-attenuation properties, and low carbon footprint.
